Endometriosis Foundation of America - EFA

 March is Endometriosis Awareness Month!

Endometriosis lacks a voice in the public eye despite the fact that one in ten women has some degree of endometriosis. Typically women with endometriosis have suffered years of anguishing mental and physical pain plus extensive internal damage.

I was thinking it would be very good to write something here about the Endometriosis Foundation of America as they have been a tremendous asset to me.

"The Endometriosis Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on fighting against the devastating effects of this disease. One hundred and seventy-six million women in the world suffer from endometriosis. Through increased awareness, education, research and legislative advocacy, the EFA is committed to improving affected individuals' lives by early detection and treatment."  Their website is http://www.endofound.org/

Dr. Tamer Seckin, MD, FACOG
Dr. Seckin is the Founder & President of the Endometriosis Foundation of America. 
 A renowned laparoscopic surgeon and NOTES patent holder,
he is an Associate Attending Physician and Clinical Instructor at Lenox Hill and New York Methodist Hospitals as well as Chief of Gynecology, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. 
 He serves as an Executive Board Member of the International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy (ISGE) and is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy (AAGL), as well as many other prestigious professional societies. 

He has received many awards and remains an active educator and philanthropist, who travels the world speaking about endometriosis and minimally invasive surgery. 

Dr. Seckin founded the EFA as a result of his passion to raise awareness about the disease and offer hope to even those with the most challenging of cases.
